This past week was the busiest of the 2017 season as the Over Bored team went through a grueling string of five shows over the course of five days in three different cities. It would be a tough challenge but one the team was up for as they started off the stretch in Farmington, Missouri at the St. Francois County Fairgrounds on Thursday. It was a rainy afternoon but the weather cleared and made for a night of great monster truck action against our good friends in the Barbarian, Crushstation and Lumberjack teams. Jamey Garner and Over Bored wasn’t able to pull off any wins of the first half of the event with losses in the wheelie and racing competitions but the second half of the event would be a different story. Garner ripped into a wicked set of cyclones once again to take yet another donut contest victory. Then in freestyle it would be a high flying run from Over Bored that would take the win by one point over Crushstation. Friday night wasn’t as lucky for the team as the Over Bored suffered breakage early and wouldn’t be able to perform in the second half of the event. It was a disappointing result to end their time in Farmington, but it would be a quick turn around to get the truck ready for Joliet the next day.
After making the haul overnight from Farmington, Missouri to Joliet, Illinois the team worked hard to get Over Bored ready for an awesome event at Route 66 Raceway for the annual Monster Mayhem event. The truck would be missing the hood but otherwise was mechanically 100% ready for the night ahead. While wheelies didn’t play into Garner’s favor, he would shine in racing with a strong effort. Garner and Over Bored worked their way through the bracket to the final round to face off against Cory Rummell and Rage. It would be an exciting race as Garner was in the hunt until a mistake in the final turn cost him valuable time. Determined to win he tried to correct quickly but wouldn’t hit the final jump square resulting in a wild rollover and a final round defeat. However if you’re going to lose, it doesn’t hurt to go out in style and Garner did just that. The crew worked on the truck and aside from cosmetic damage it was back to tip-top shape. As the reigning freestyle champion in Joliet a year ago, Garner was ready to put it all on the line to get the win and he would do just that with a performance packed full of huge air. The scores weren’t enough to take the victory from Mike Thompson and Avenger, but the fans in Joliet we’re thrilled with the performance from Garner and Over Bored which is what matters most.
As the dust settled in Joliet the team loaded up and headed back to Indiana for two more events in Crown Point, this time for the All Star Monster Truck Tour. Sunday night saw Garner pick up the freestyle win, while Monday they would take the Speed and Style victory to finish up their fifth and final show.
It was a crazy week but an overall successful one as the Over Bored team regroups and resets to prepare for our next event in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. It will be our first ever visit to the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds and we’re excited to make some new fans in the area so come see us! Until then check out the highlight video below from us and all the other great trucks and drivers that were in Joliet.
